While Troy is known in Montana mostly for the work he did as a former music educator, he has had the opportunity to work with many professionals. He's currently playing drums/percussion on the National Tour of Chicago, and previously played drums for the North American Tour of Hairspray the Musical. He has played concerts with Broadway artists Eden Espinosa, Andy Taylor, Mike Eldred, Dan Sharkey, Curt Olds, Suzanne CareyShared the stage with world class percussionists Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez, Lalo Davila, Chris Wabich, Julie Spencer, Mark Ford, Liam Teague, Arthur Lipner; and played with jazz legends Buddy DeFranco, Bob Berg, Allen Vizzutti, Eddie Daniels, Buddy Greco, and Byron Stripling.

Throughout his career, he has played drums and percussion for over eighty different musicals and has been the music director for over thirty of those shows. When he’s not playing drum set or percussion, he can be found tuning pianos, writing orchestrations, music directing, or building sets for shows.

Troy was born and raised in northern Montana and attended the University of Montana - earning two degrees: Master of Music Education, and Bachelor of Music Education Degree with an emphasis in percussion. Troy lived in Vienna, Austria, for a semester and performed concerts in Austria, Slovakia, Italy, and Hungary while taking college courses. Living abroad was one of the best experiences of his life, instilling in him a new appreciation for the Arts and respect for other cultures.

During the summers he taught music theory and choral music at Next Step Prep: The Academy for Musical Theatre. Troy helped to prepare students to work with Broadway performers/creatives Jason Robert Brown, Georgia Stitt, Kate Baldwin, Kevin Chamberlin, Susan Egan, Bill Bowers, Alex Gemignani, Leigh Zimmerman, Joan Hess, Marni Nixon, Greg White, Andy Taylor, Suzanne Carey, and Ryan Scott Oliver.

Additionally, Troy was the music director of the MCT summer performing arts camp for 11 years where he was the music director of up-and-coming high school students like Solea Pfeiffer. Not only did he teach all the music by rote, he also wrote all of the orchestrations for the two-hour production, played drums, and conducted the performances.

Outside of teaching and performing, Troy frequently has the opportunity to work with students and colleagues across the state and in the northwest. He has conducted sixteen honor choir and percussion festivals around Montana, at both the junior high and high school levels. Additionally, Troy is a clinician and adjudicator in Montana for choirs, choral sight reading, solo percussion, and percussion ensembles.  Respected among his peers, Troy has presented multiple sessions for groups to which he belongs, including the Montana Music Educators Association, Montana Choral Directors Association Summer Institute, and the Northwest American Choral Directors Association.
